Building speakers with charm, character and panache.
Super fun project. I created these speakers as if I was building furniture with oak inlays and more advanced joinery. I wanted to make a pair of speakers, (two pairs actually) that was impossible to mass produce. I'm not a fan of tens of thousands of clones all looking the same.
I used wood from a pallet found in an old house's basement that had no flooring and just concrete walls. I've used very old pallet wood for other projects but most new pallets from your local warehouse is junk wood.
Very few things are unique anymore and there is always a clone of thousands saturating the market. What's so special about that?
How did I break the rules? No MDF, used real solid wood and no "golden ratio" for speaker dimensions. No crossovers, no bracing, no HI-FI awards etc. You get the point. Most fun sounding speakers we've made here at Lars & Sarah. Why does listening to good music need to follow the rules? I'd rather take charm, character and panache any day over strict rules, MDF or HI-FI awards any day :-)
